On a personal note, taking the helm for my first year brought its own pressures and experiences, but I’ve bloody loved every minute of it and hope you all have too. My sincere thanks go to everyone working behind the scenes—especially my fellow committee members. Without them, there simply is no club.
One of the biggest highlights for me was seeing the Tavs spirit return in full force every week at the MCG. Even when our match away at Hungerford was cancelled, or when the opposition failed to turn up at home, we certainly made the most of it!
I’d also like to thank you all for making selection competitive across both sides for the vast majority of the season. That’s a huge plus and a real testament to your commitment.
The club as a whole is in a great place going into the winter months. We are investing directly back into the ground, improving both the square and the outfield. It’s been a tough year for our grounds team with the weather, so a huge thank you to Gripper, Stephan, Reesy, and everyone else involved—your hard work is hugely appreciated. Keep an eye out for updates on winter nets.
Looking ahead, our annual AGM will take place early in the new year (date TBC). As a reminder, all committee positions are open for anyone who wishes to stand. Crucially, after many years of dedicated service, James Hunt will be stepping down as Club Secretary—a well-earned rest for a true clubman.
Please give serious thought to whether you can step up to this role. Without all three officer positions filled, the committee cannot legally form and the club cannot function.
We have plenty of socials planned over the winter, and your support and attendance are always appreciated—not just for the bar, but to keep that Tavs spirit thriving year-round!
Finally, I’m really looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Awards Night next week to celebrate some outstanding achievements from our members. Expect special mentions from the Fines Master and a quiz! Please let us know if you can or can’t make it as soon as possible so we can order enough free pizzas & get the glasses ready for the 1-2 pints (until the keg of Moretti and inches is gone).
Hope to catch up with you all very soon!
Cheers,
Bill
