Silchester won the toss and both captains got their wish with Silchester electing to bat.
Panda and Delaney taking the new ball, one of the Silchester openers took the aggressive approach. Carl bounced out 2 and took one of the [[/b]catches, whilst Panda also struck nipping back with a great delivery bowling no4 batsman, with Carl rested Olie short came on. Crown applied pressure with some runs coming which seems fairly high but with a belter of a wkt and fast outfield, it was expected.
With Vijay and then Olie rested bringing Hassan on he struck bowling the batsman not offering a shot.
Dave Huntinford was given a go after 30 overs. 2 ov for 15 then Olie replacing him.
Panda and Delaney finishing, Panda grabbed two more wkts removing their no5 for 64 , the game changer was the x Yateley all-rounder who took the attack to Crown at no6 plundering 84 with a few late runs finishing on 259 for 6.
As bad as the score may look it was not the case. A belter of a wkt , a lightning outfield, all played their part. Crown was well lead in the field, Emile encouraged from behind the stumps, making changes and aware of fielding placings.
I would say well-done Crown, it was a top effort in the field against a county 3 standard team even missing their leg spinner but this chase would prove even harder.
Carl and Olie opened, Carl never settled while Olie found it hard against the big seamer beaten at times and taking a few blows.
Carl bowled, Emmo going again without scoring well caught in the slips cutting. Hassan going LBW done by the slower ball dropping his back leg sweeping hit in front of middle.
Ollie going for 27, Emile batting with a badly damaged finger from keeping had a ball angled in on leg stump tried playing it back inside out straight catching the outside edge going to slip out for 4. Dave H and Richard hung around before Richard bowled by the quicker one from the left arm slow bowler who couldn't match the turn Crowns spinners got.
Panda came in at 9, put a nice back foot 4 away. Dave calling Panda through for a single stayed in his crease with both at the same end even with the big fumble not really trying to make one's ground was not in the script. Dave somehow forced Panda to leave his crease and survived.
Vijay came in looked to attack going for 13 this left crown with about 115 for 9 and still batting points crowns only target.
Dom given his 1st chance late in the day took to the non-spinning slow bowler getting away 4 x 4s bring up the 125 before going bowled to the quicker arm ball again for 16 with Dave finishing 17 n/o.
Crown bowled out for 140 ................
Olie 27
Dave 17 n/o
Dom 16.
Bowling
Panda 10 ov 3 for 50
Carl 8 ov 2 for 46
Hassan 7 ov 1 for 52.
Captains Comments;
It was a hard fought game by all in circumstances that definitely suited the batsmen. Going up aginst a team that is unbeaten was always going to be a tough ask. Everyone contributed to the result from the day and walking away with 7 points, which is the most points any team has taken from Silcester this season so far, is a win in my books.
Thanks guys. Onwards and upwards!!!
